How long does it take to learn to trade? PLEASE LIKE AND SHARE THIS VIDEO SO WE CAN DO MORE! How much time will it take to learn to trade? How long does it take to learn day trading? How long does it take to become a successful trader i.e. you manage to extract and profit from stock market movements. These kind of questions come in frequently and it is understandable. Learning to trade – it really depends what you mean – if its about understanding the market mechanics, how long it takes to understand the market or what a broker does and how trading works (going long or short or candlestick patterns or placing a trade) maybe it will take you a month. That is fairly simple stuff. I consider learning to trade someone who develops a certain element of profitability. I don't use the word consistency because trading doesn't work like that and we are all likely to have rough patches. If you are making more money than you are losing over time that to me means that you have the ability to take money from the market and at that point you've basically learned how to trade. For me it took me long years and there is never a finish line; you are always evolving and adapting to changing market conditions. So how long will it take me to learn how to trade?
Realistically I think you can learn how to trade and make money in 6 months these days if you are very focused, disciplined and have good foundations.
Can you do a video on what was the hardest thing for you overall and shout me out thank you!!
Well done
Just wana thank you and yeah it helped me a lot๐ and keep doing the good work .
not getting caught up in the noise & staying confident in the strategy one has developed! The noise can also hamper learning. The noise makes one’s decisiveness weak. But….. I”ll get there …. in that good stage soon enough. I notice that I manage to limit more & more trade failures. Good video. Thanks
Trading does not just comprise buying and selling. It should include setting up goals, building a portfolio, choosing the asset groups. The trader needs to learn the technical skills of understanding charts, fundamental analysis, risk management skills, etc. I don’t recommend day trading as the computer algorithms have dominated the market. How about control of greed and fear? It took me many years to learn the technical analysis and the fundamental analysis, and how to overcome fear and greed. How to select stocks from hundreds ? How to generate trading ideas? How to discover the trend? This needs one to spend some time on the learning curves and finding out their sweet spots. Trading successfully requires serious risk management skills, i.e. the use of your capital wisely. Short term trading is difficult so I adopt long term strategy, and need not worry about the short -term fluctuations. If one does not spend 3 years in practice, and experience losses, it is hard to make money. Some friends go to stock transaction companies daily but they never can tell me what are their trading skills!
Daniel Wong good sharing sir…, Thanks. I do long term too.. daily so much noise…
I practise long term trading and am able to grow my account appreciably.
For the sake of argument, 6 months is too premature even under a close supervision of a pro. The daily grind of trading could still throw things out of the window. Stacking up both the fundamental and technical analysis is a huge thing. Put the emotions into the equation and things could get out of whack completely. I was able to create a system in 3 months but took me 2 years to put it on fire. The third year is back-testing phase. The fourth year is evolving and testing versatility. I didn’t know the proper sequence of topics to study to expedite learning when I started. I started from technical analysis and because nobody taught me, I jumped to inter-market analysis which really came as a fascinating picture for me. Mere curiosity at first but became quite a fixation later and it just kinda rolled from there. Early on, I just have this particular aversion from derivatives because that’s how it’s taught on textbooks-that they are not for beginners. Flash of warnings are written everywhere. I just don’t think it’s that scary. Again, to a large extent, everything still goes back to the proper foundation.
ma.theresa sarmiento This. 6 months is when you *think* you’re able to make money. Then actually making money is another story that might take many more months if you’re a full time trader or years if dedicating part time. A lot of broken accounts in the middle as well. He’s being terribly optimistic.
I know my currency pair GBP/NOK well, because I watched it every day in newspapers, years before I saw any charts. I didnโt know anything about support and resistance, but I knew from newspapers where is the top and the bottom. First time when I saw it on the chart, I was thinking; what is this mess? People say if you can make profit 20% per year you are a good trader. If you have a capital for instance $10k and open only two trades per year one contact, you can make 100% on these supports and resistances. The thing is, if you can hold it long enough. Last week GBP/NOK resistance 11.25 dropped 200 pips straight. Watching one market very closely is the key. If you have $10k account, those 200 pips is 25% gain with one contract.
Thanks you for the cool video I want to be a trader but it seens to be complicated to me pls how can I get a mentor?
good video !
Good topic…6 month of technical and fundamental ; 6 month of choosing strategy ; 6 months of selecting market, 6 months of testing consistency…
I was a daily trader…. loosing money…
Than swing trading… doing okay….then I wanted to combine swing & daily trading … loosing again….niw I decided to do swing trading which I can consistently profit.
For crying out loud, this is all guesswork! Some people will be trading profitably after a month, others after a year and some people never.
The figures are presented as authoritative, but they are guesstimates!
You are the top dog mate:) Thanks for sharing
backtesting software cuts the time in half
Do you mean 6 months part time or 6 months full time? Is this feasible if you have a day job but are passionate about trading and learning to do it properly?
last and difficult step of trading is knowing yourself if you pass this step you also achieve Nirvana ๐

Hi I am a big follower and subscriber. I have a question regarding inter trader platform on their most popular markets they have UK 100 Rolling Dilly is that another name for FTSE 100 or is that a different market same goes for US SPX 500 is that snp 500 im confused because when i type in ftse 100 or snp 500 nothing comes up. Also the recent attack on saudi arabian oil processing plant brent closed trading for a few days and then when it reopened the price of oil shot up. How does that affect my order and would i get a reminder from inter trdaer that brent stopped trading for few days?
Yes they have to use words like UK 100 instead of FTSE 100 or USA 500 instead of S&P500. That’s because the exchanges own the copyright for FTSE 100/S&P 500. Brent never stopped trading – the price did spike in a short time though after the attack (that’s how the markets work).
